Information Technology

Welcome to the Office of Information Technology.  Our department is responsible for all major technology initiatives throughout the Youngstown City School District.  There are 3 separate areas of this office.

Network Services.  This includes the purchase, installation, and support of all desktop, laptop, tablet, and other student devices, as well as printers and servers.  In all, over 10,000 devices are managed and supported through our department.

Technology Integration.  This department is responsible for working directly with teachers on the adoption and integration of technology in the classroom.  Everything from Google Classroom to Promethean Panels to projectors to assessment is fair game!

Data Department.  This area includes the support for our Student Information System, Teacher Gradebook, and the processing of student records, including report cards, interim reports, weekly BAG reports, and student transcripts.

GOOGLE UPDATE

Google has recently changed their Google’s policies regarding their non-core services, which Google refers to as “additional services.”For many years, students have had access to Google’s non-core services, such as Google Bookmarks, Chrome Web Store, Google Earth, Google Books, CS First, Google Maps, Google My Maps, Google News, Google Photos, Google Play, Google Translate, Looker Studio, Material Gallery, and YouTube as part of their educational experience. However, school administrators were notified by Google on Tuesday, February 18th, that Google will now require parental consent for students to continue using these non-core services. Unfortunately, Google has given us a short deadline of March 1, 2025, to comply with this new requirement.
