One question, made famous by the legendary coach Lou Holtz, brings focus and clarity in the chaos and complexity of today's world! And in todayā€™s world we are often looking for the secret, the shortcut or the hack. What if there was no secret, shortcut or hack but, there was a question?

Our staff and scholars will be challenged to answer the powerful question - What's Important Now?  A question that can serve as a guide to help us prioritize the choices and decisions we are faced with every day. A question that can help us overcome life's challenges, obstacles and road blocks in the chaotic and complex world we live in.

The future is bright at Chaney Middle School and we will not allow ourselves to dwell on the past and look in the rearview mirror, because our focus is the here and now and how to build a bright future centered around success and hope for our staff and scholars. THE COWBOY WAY is to approach each day with the belief that we will WIN the day, building towards a bigger and brighter tomorrow.

Below are exciting programs being implemented at CMS to support our WIN culture and environment:

  1. Weekly family/staff all calls

    • These weekly calls will serve as a way of ensuring that our staff and families are always well informed and on the same page when it comes to school information, upcoming events, and reasons to celebrate our staff and scholars.

  2. Family Roundup Meetings

    • This will be held once a month in our library and dates can be found under the events section on the school main page.

    • What are these?

      1. These meetings will create opportunities for our families to have a voice by way of sharing concerns/ideas that we could utilize to continue to grow the school culture/climate for our families, staff, and scholars.

      2. These meetings will also allow for staff at the school along with the support of scholars to share out all the positive things taken place at CMS.

      3. Ultimately, these meetings will allow for the school staff to strengthen relationships and communication with our families and/or scholars.

  3. Scholar Of The Month

    • Each month one male and one female scholar from each grade level will receive an award and prize for being selected by the staff as the winner for the monthly SOTM award.

    • Also, each scholar that is nominated will receive a certificate to still show that they were recognized by the staff as someone that is doing the right things each day.

    • Ultimately, this award/recognition allows for our scholars to be celebrated for doing the right things and know that they are greatly appreciated!

  4. School Assemblies/Speakers

    • We are going back to holding grade level assemblies to allow for our scholars to experience school in ways it used to be prior to the pandemic.

    • The assemblies and speakers that we will be providing scholars with opportunities to hear individuals that understand our scholars and provide them with stories that offer them hope for what the school year can be like as well as their lives outside of the walls of CMS.

    • At the end of the day, we all want to provide our scholars with a safe learning environment that also allows for them to leave CMS each day a better version of themselves. That is ultimately our goal as educators, helping each other grow personally and professionally each day and strive to leave better versions of who we were when we entered the doors of CMS on any given day.
